Jamie Oliver and the 2010 Child Nutrition Reauthorization

Every five years an opportunity opens on Capitol Hill for lawmakers and their staff to improve, modify and reauthorize the federal Child Nutrition Programs.  The objective: to ensure that high-quality, healthy, and safe meals are provided to children every school day.

Jamie Oliver has compiled a petition he would like to take to the White House to show the President and First lady how many people really care and to ask for their support in saving cooking skills and improving school food.  (See original post on Jamie Oliver here).

So far, 625,191 people in the United States have signed (35,206 in New York). I’m not one to push petitions, but this is a worthy one.  It’s also the last month to sign.  If you’re interested, click here.
